Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the professional training program that qualifies you to teach scuba diving and certify new divers. Upon passing the PADI Instructor Examination (IE), you become a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor — one of the most recognised diving credentials in the world.
Silent Divers’ IDC is led by Course Directors Peter Wise and Alex Arnold, with decades of combined teaching and examining experience across some of the world’s premier dive destinations. Their pass rate consistently exceeds the global PADI average.

FAQ
The PADI Instructor Examination is conducted by independent PADI examiners. Candidates who complete the full IDC with us are consistently well-prepared — our pass rates exceed the global average.
A PADI OWSI can independently teach and certify students in all PADI courses from Discover Scuba Diving through to Divemaster. You can work at any PADI dive operation worldwide.
The Divemaster qualifies you to lead and assist — but not independently teach. The IDC qualifies you to teach and certify new divers from scratch.
If you hold an equivalent professional certification from another agency (SSI, NAUI, CMAS, etc.), you may be eligible for crossover. Contact us to assess your existing qualifications.
We run IDC courses throughout the year. Contact us at [email protected] or call +66 8193 36641 (WhatsApp available) to discuss upcoming dates and availability.
