Certification
Deep Diver
The PADI Deep Diver specialty is one of the most popular and practical specialty certifications in recreational diving. It takes your maximum depth from 30m (Advanced Open Water) to 40 metres — unlocking the deepest sections of every dive site in the Gulf of Thailand.
At Chumphon Pinnacle, the most anemone-covered granite reaches 30m. At Sail Rock’s famous chimney, the bottom exits at around 30m. Deep certification means you dive the full site, not just the top half.
Prerequisite: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent). Minimum age 15.

FAQ
No — Open Water and Advanced Open Water divers can visit both sites to their respective depth limits. But the Deep Diver specialty lets you dive the full extent of both sites, including the deepest and most dramatic sections.
It varies between divers and depths — some describe a mild euphoria or slowed thinking, others feel nothing at all below 30m. The Deep Diver course teaches you to recognise and manage it safely.
The PADI recreational limit is 30m. The Deep Diver specialty certifies you to this limit. Diving beyond 30m requires technical diving training.
With proper training and a good instructor, no. The course progressively builds you to depth — you won't be thrown in at 30m on Dive 1. By Day 2 you'll feel completely comfortable.
